CONCORD - Through Republic Services, Cabarrus County will offer expanded recycling to waste collection customers in the unincorporated area. Customers’ existing blue 18-gallon recycling bins will be replaced with new 96-gallon recycling carts, which are the same size as their trash carts.
Republic Services waste collection customers in the unincorporated portion of Cabarrus County will receive their new 96-gallon recycling carts during the weeks of December 17 and December 24. Customers should begin rolling the new recycling carts to the curb December 31, depending on their designated collection date.
Recyclable materials placed in the 96-gallon recycling carts will be collected every other week, on the same day as the trash pickup. On recycling day, residents should place recycling carts at the curb the same time they place the trash carts.
Customers who wish to return their old 18-gallon bins can leave them on the curb for collection during the week of December 31. Customers have the option of keeping the 18-gallon bins, but Republic Services will not collect recyclable material placed in the smaller bins after December 31.
For information specific to the new carts, customers can contact Republic Services on a dedicated hotline through January 4, 704-262-6017. For general information about Cabarrus County’s residential recycling program, call 704-920-3278 or visit www.cabarruscounty.us/sustainability<http://www.cabarruscounty.us/sustainability>.
