STATESVILLE - A Concord man was arrested Tuesday after he refused to stop for a deputy and was seen throwing marijuana from his car while running from police, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office said.
A deputy tried to pull over 22-year-old Tyrell Montice Tate around 9 p.m. on Garner Bagnal Boulevard for a registration violation.
According to the sheriff's office, Tate sped up and let deputies on a short chase along Garner Bagnal Boulevard into Statesville.
Tate was seen dumping something from his window that appeared to be loose marijuana.
He was taken into custody. Officers found marijuana inside his car as well as the roadway where he was seen dumping something from the car.
Tate, of Concord Pointe Lane, was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $22,000 secured bond.
He was charged with Felony Speeding to Elude Arrest, Fail to Heed to Blue Lights/Siren, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While License Revoked, and several other traffic violations he committed during the pursuit.
