KANNAPOLIS - The Modern Film Fest in Kannapolis is proud to say that four movies, either made in the Charlotte area or made by a Charlotte filmmaker, will screen during the festival at the Gem Theatre.
The Film Fest kicks off its third year on Friday, September 30.

The world premiere of "Witness Insecurity," starring Edward Furlong, Meat Loaf and Ed Asner, is Saturday, October 1 at 7 p.m.
The movie was shot in and around Kannapolis and Concord, and the Gem movie house itself has a cameo appearance.
China Grove resident Eric Troyer wrote and produced the feature and drew from the local talent who plan to attend the festival.
An after party will be held after the movie and will include filmmakers from the movies at the fest, including Rick Ravenello, one of the stars of, "Witness Insecurity" who people will recognize from guest appearances on "Weeds," "Smallville," "CSI" and other television shows.
Other Charlotte area films playing at the Fest include "Redneck Roots," "The Trial" and "Cold Storage."
Short films that were made in the area that will screen will include, "Three for Dinner" and "Not(e) in my Saddle" with cast and crew at the festival.
