Updating your summer wardrobe

Updating your summer wardrobe

When the seasons change, your wardrobe changes too.

"Fashion has changed so much," said Ann Taylor store manager Luca Grenaway.

"It just gives you an opportunity to express yourself."

Whether you'd like to change it up on a vacation, buy a few new shirts, or completely remake yourself; you have one month to spruce up your look, so it's time to get started!

One of the major challenges the fashion-forward face, however, is cost.

If you are trying to stay fresh for less, experts say start taking inventory.

"Think about what you have in your closet," said Grenaway.

"Keep it in mind when you're shopping. A lot of times you might find a great piece that might match something you haven't worn in 10 years."

Grenaway recommends deciding what kind of clothing you're interested in buying before you hit the mall.

After you've figured out your style, it's time to pick out your clothes and go shopping.

RCCC touts Literature and Fine Arts Festival as success

SALISBURY - An infusion of culture, music, drama, literature and fine arts descended upon Rowan-Cabarrus Community College earlier this month for the college’s Literary & Fine Arts Festival.

Over 1,000 students and community members attended the festival’s many activities during the week of April 7-11. The free, family-friendly festival was coordinated by Rowan-Cabarrus faculty and was open to the public.

“Many of our students at Rowan-Cabarrus are managing family responsibilities, careers, and the demands of their studies. Consequently, they may not have the time or means to appreciate literature and the fine arts,” said Dr. Carol S. Spalding, president of Rowan-Cabarrus. “The Literary & Fine Arts Festival was a special event that the college created to make sure that our students had an opportunity to engage in activities and celebrations focusing on literature and fine arts.”

Brown added, “Concord and area residents have always enjoyed the downtown Art Walks, sponsored by the Cabarrus Arts Council, which occur on Friday nights five times a year.

Bruton Smith disputes that fall race move is a "done deal"

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV)- NASCAR mogul Bruton Smith says there is a strong possibility that he will move the Bank of America 500 out of Charlotte, but a source told WBTV the move is "a done deal."

The Bank of America 500 is one of two annual races held at Smith's Charlotte Motor Speedway, along with May's Coca-Cola 600. The BoA 500 is held in October.

"I know you're not gonna cut this one out, but I've been having some strong conversations about one of these events being moved," Smith told WBTV's Paul Cameron in an exclusive interview on Monday. "And Las Vegas is a great place - it's the entertainment capital of the world - and they want another event."

In addition to owning the Charlotte Motor Speedway, the North Carolina native owns eight NASCAR tracks, including the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, hosting a total of eleven NASCAR Sprint Cup events.
